Mines kill displaced people of Afrin in Shehba

Heyva Sor a Kurd urges the international demining organizations to clear Shehba of the mines.

The population fleeing from the attacks and massacres of the Turkish state and its militia from Afrin to Shehba is in mortal danger due to ISIS mines. So far, 14 people were killed and 38 others were injured.

According to Emar Mihemed of the Kurdish Red Crescent (Heyva Sor a Kurd), 38 civilians have been injured by ISIS mines and 14others were killed since the evacuation of civilians from Afrin to Shehba. Since there is no hospital in Shehba, the seriously injured must be brought to Aleppo.

The scope of the demining teams is insufficient to secure the region. For example, a family from Qestel Cindo was extinguished by a mine explosion with the exception of a three-year-old child.

Heyva Sor a Kurd urges the international demining organizations to clear Shehba of the mines. The mining of civilian settlements and agricultural land is a tactic of ISIS, al-Nusra and other Salafist militias. This tactic is also known from other regions in Rojava and northern Syria and has already claimed the lives of many people.
