First YPG/YPJ Regiment declared in Hesekê

The first YPG/YPJ Regiment has been established in Hesekê city of Rojava.

YPG General Command has declared the establishment of the 'Martyr Jiyan Cudi and Doğan Cudi Regiment' made up of 500 fighters.

Speaking at the military ceremony in Hesekê city of Rojava, YPG Commander Mahabad Koçer issued a message of congratulation on July 19 Revolution and said: “Rojava Revolution became an example of democracy, freedom and fraternity. Thousands of martyrs have sacrificed their lives for the accomplishment of the revolution that is based on the idea and philosophy of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.”

Remarking that the peoples of Rojava are resisting the attacks of the Turkish state, Jabhat al-Nusra, Ahrar al-Sham and ISIS gangs with strong resolve and will, Koçer said: “We will follow in the martyrs' footsteps and clear the region of ISIS gangs.”

Following the speech, fighters took their oath and the ceremony ended with Kurdish traditional dance halay.
