Candles lit in martyrs’ cemeteries on Martyrs Day

Hundreds of people lit candles in martyrs’ cemeteries in Kobanê, Gire Spi and Tabqa in memory of the martyrs of freedom.

The people of Kobanê commemorated the martyrs of freedom in a ceremony held in the Martyr Dicle Martyrs’ Cemetery on May 18 Martyrs Day.

Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) Policy Council Member Mihemed Hesen stated that the blood of martyrs has nourished the earth and called on all to protect the gains achieved through their blood.

After the speech, the people lit candles by the graves of the martyrs.

Girê Spî Martyrs’ Families Council held a ceremony in the Mehmud Tiume Martyrs’ Cemetery. Hesen Ibrahim from the Martyrs’ Families Council administration gave condolences to the families and called on all to uphold the labor of the martyrs.

Tabqa Martyrs’ Families Council and Tabqa Civilian Council representatives, SDF fighters and the people of the region visited the martyrs’ graves after the iftar dinner.

A ceremony was held in the martyrs’ cemetery.

Emina Ebdulrezaq spoke in the ceremony in the name of the Martyrs Affairs Committee and said: “We have gathered here to remember our martyrs. Our martyrs are in our hearts, they are the light that show us the way.”

Martyr Ehmed El Esed’s mother Fatima El Shawi said she is proud of her son’s martyrdom and promised that they will follow the path of the martyrs.

Candles were lit by the martyrs’ graves after speeches.
