Afrin calls on the UN to do its duty

The Autonomous Administration of Afrin Canton and Berxwedan Camp Administration issued a call to the UN and international community for the return home of Afrin’s people who had to leave home due to the atrocity of the Turkish state and affiliated gangs.

The Autonomous Administration of Afrin Canton and Berxwedan Camp Administration issued a joint call for Afrin to the United Nations and international community.

The statement in Fafin district of Shehba canton was read out in Kurdish and Arabic.

“THEY DISPLACED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS, PLAY WITH DEMOGRAPHICS”

The statement said the following;

“Based on interests with Russia, the fascist Turkish state, together with ISIS, Al-Qaeda and other gang organisations, attacked Afrin and forcibly displaced hundreds of thousands for all the world to see. In the current situation, the people of Afrin are living under very harsh conditions. The gangs calling themselves ‘Free Syrian Army’ are committing crimes such as looting and theft, and killing those who do not obey them in Afrin. The invading and genocidal Turkish state is playing with the demographics of the region by means of these gangs, and tries to make an illegitimate rule dominate over the lands of Syria, mainly over Afrin.

“PEOPLE DIDN’T GIVE UP RESISTANCE, ARE DETERMINED TO RETURN”

The people of Afrin, who bravely resisted the attacks carried out by the invading Turkish state with NATO’s aircraft and all kind of heavy weaponry for 58 days, had to move to Shehba canton and Nubul Zahra in hundreds of thousands because of genocidal attacks they faced. However, these people did not give up their resistance. They remain determined to continue with their struggle in the path of their martyrs and eventually return to Afrin. However, under the current circumstances, people continue their resistance under heaviest conditions and despite threats of an attack.

“INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY AND UN SHOULD DO THEIR DUTY”

As the Autonomous Administration of Afrin Canton and Berxwedan Camp Administration, we call on the international community and the UN to break their silence and do their duties. We expect them to see the terrorist attacks of the AKP-MHP fascism and the gangs against Afrin, and to secure to prevent the people from genocidal attacks. On this basis, they should stand with the people of Afrin, seeing and fulfilling humanitarian aid as a moral responsibility. At the same time, we call on human rights organizations and Doctors Without Borders to come to here to see for themselves the conditions under which Afrin’s people live, and fulfill their responsibilities accordingly.”
