Turkish attacks on Makhmur and Shengal protested all over Europe

Kurds and their friends are taking to the streets in protest at Thursday’s Turkish airstrikes against a village in Shengal town and the Makhmur Refugee Camp under UN protection in southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq.

Borlänge

Revolutionary Youth’s Movement (Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger) called on Kurds to gather at the Borlänge Railway Station to protest against the airstrikes carried out by the Turkish state on Makhmur and Shengal on Thursday night.

Banners condemning the massacres carried out by the Turkish state and the attacks on Kurdistan together with photos of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, were carried by activists who also carried PKK and YPG / YPJ flags.

Slogans were chanted such as, “Turkish state and DAESH are the same”, “Fascist Turkish state, murderer Erdoğan”.

Stockholm

The protests condemning the Turkish state airstrikes on Makhmur and Shengal took place at the Stockholm Railway Station.

Activists carried banners saying “Stop the massacres in Kurdistan” and “Turkish state get out of Rojava”. PKK flags and photos of Kurdish People's Leader Öcalan were also displayed.

Cemal Atak told ANF that the attacks of the Turkish state against Makhmur and Shengal could not be seen as anything different from the developments in Rojava, and that the fascist MHP and Erdoğan, who allied themselves with the deep state, put into operation all methods to eliminate the achievements reached by the Kurdish people.

“The aim of the Erdoğan regime - Atak said - is to destroy the Kurdish Freedom Movement, which represents Kurds and other oppressed peoples as well as a hope for the entire Middle East and the peoples of the world. But the Kurdish people will repel the attacks of the Erdoğan regime. We will continue to be in the squares to condemn the attacks and to show solidarity with the people of Kurdistan.”

Frankfurt

The attacks carried out by the Turkish state were also protested in Frankfurt, Germany. Kurds and their friends gathered in front of the main station, carrying a banner saying “Erdoğan is carrying out massacres in Kurdistan”.

Activists marched to the busy Hauptbahnhof Street, closing off the traffic, and chanting slogans: "Terrorists Turkey", "Murderer Erdoğan", "Bij berxwedana YPG, YPJ”.

The crowd arrived at the Hauptwache Square and held a rally there. Erdoğan dictatorship was condemned by the speeches as well as the despicable attacks on Shengal and Makhmur camp.

The action ended with a call for participation at the rally in Hauptwache Square at 3 pm on Saturday.

Marseille

In Marseille, France, a demonstration was held to condemn the Turkish state airstrikes on Makhmur and Shengal.

The demonstration took place in front of the representation of the European Union Marseille.

Cevat Güney spoke on behalf on the DKTM and CDK-F.

The main reason for these attacks, he said, “is the silence of Europe. Whenever we hold demonstrations for the leadership, the fascist Turkish state launched barbaric attacks.”

Stuttgart

The attacks carried out by the Turkish state were also protested in Stuttgart, Germany.

A 2 km march was held by Kurds and friends. Kurdish activists held a civil disobedience action in Stuttgart train station and pointed out the importance of national unity against the Turkish attacks.

Cologne

In Cologne, Kurds from Troisdorf, Euskirchen, Bonn, Bergheim and Bergisch Gladbach gathered in front of the Dom church and protested the Turkish state.

Hildesheim

In Hildesheim, the Turkish state was protested. Kurds and their friends gathered outside the main station.

Speaking at the demonstration, Şêx Iskender said: “As a Yazidi, I strongly condemn the attacks of the Turkish state on Shengal and Makhmur.”

Iskender also condemned the silence of the EU against the attacks.

Vienna

In the Austrian capital Vienna, Kurds and their friends gathered in front of the opera house and began their protest with a minute silence. The crowd marched to the Turkey Embassy where chanted slogans and made speeches condemning the Turkish attacks.

Basel

The attacks of the Turkish state were also protested in Basel, Switzerland.

A large crowd gathered at Basel Central Station and condemned the attacks.
