ISIS attack on YPG thwarted

In the northeastern Syrian city of Hesekê an ISIS attack on the People's Defense Units could be prevented due to the attention of the population.

An attack attempt by the so-called Islamic State was prevented on Tuesday in Hesekê city in the north-east of Syria. YPG Press Office reported the attention of the local people helped to thwart the attempted attack on the People's Defense Units. An explosive device prepared by the ISIS was detected and defused in an area on the route between Hesekê and Shaddadi.

Thanks to the sense of responsibility and the attention of the civilian population, a potential danger has been eliminated and another ISIS attack has been thwarted, said the statement.

Meanwhile, the Turkish army attacked Rojava again last night. In the bombing of several positions in the region of Girê Spî (Tal Abyad) a female member of the self-defense forces Erka Xweparastin was killed, another person was injured in the town Suluk.

Last Sunday, a member of the Northern Syrian self-defense forces was killed after several villages in the west of Kobanê were hit by Turkish artillery. The attack took place barely a day after the Quadruple Summit in Istanbul, during which the heads of state and government of Germany, France, Turkey and Russia discussed the "peace process in Syria". There, Turkish President Erdoğan announced that he wanted to wage another war of aggression against Rojava.

On Tuesday, Erdoğan reaffirmed his occupation plans against Northern Syria. He said: "We will destroy the terrorist structures east of the Euphrates. We have completed our preparations, plans and programs to this end."
