Evacuations in Baghouz continue as thousands have surrendered

Evacuations continue in the Syrian Democratic Forces’ (SDF) final operation against ISIS gangs in the Baghouz village.

Reports say two groups have been evacuated from the village of Baghouz. The first group was removed with 15 vehicles and the second with 20. At least 35 more trucks have been mobilized for new evacuations.

Over 1.000 people have been removed from the village since the morning.

Some 2.500 individuals had been removed from the village on Monday. Most of them were surrendering ISIS members and their families.

On Monday, a 40-truck convoy had been formed to remove civilians used as human shields by ISIS.

SDF fighters took over at least 13 more locations after the relaunch of the operation following the removal of most civilians from the region.

Since early December, over 55.000 people have been removed from the region, with over 5.000 gang members among them.
