Bernard Kouchner: We must stand against Turkish occupation

The Forum will address the ongoing Turkish and its mercenary allies’ occupation and ethnic cleansing practices, as well as the crimes committed by Turkey and the mercenaries against humanity.

The International Forum on Demographic Change and Ethnic Cleansing in Afrin has kicked off in Amude town of Northern and Eastern Syria.

The international forum is organised by the Center for Strategic Studies in Rojava and is attended by a number of politicians and intellectuals, including many world-renowned names from all over the world.

The Forum will address the ongoing Turkish and its mercenary allies’ occupation and ethnic cleansing practices, as well as the crimes committed by Turkey and the mercenaries against humanity.

The opening speech of the forum was held by Dr. Ehmed Sino, an executive of the Rojava Strategic Researches Center. Afterwards, a cinevision on the Turkish state’s attacks in Afrin was presented.

Bernard Kouchner, former Foreign Minister of France, who is also attending the forum made evaluations on the Turkish occupation of Afrin and attacks carried out in this scope.

Kouchner said: “We must stand against violent practices of Turkish occupation. We must first ask the reason for the prevailing silence on what is being done to the Kurds. The people of Rojava are important for us as they are subjected to violations by their neighbors from all sides.”

Kouchner emphasised that they will engage in serious works, once they are back home, to ensure an end to the Turkish state’s policies of murder, forced displacement and demographic change.

Remarking that world states such as Russia, Iran and the US want to establish a domination in the Middle East, Kouchner said the people of Rojava are directly affected by the policies on the Middle East.

The French politician said they stand with the people of Rojava.
