Yagiz’s health deteriorates on day 56 of hunger strike

Nasir Yagiz’s health deteriorates day after another. In protest against the aggravated isolation against the Kurdish people’s leader, Abdullah Ocalan, Yagiz is on a hunger strike for the 56th day in Hewler.

The hunger strike campaign which has been launched to condemn and protest the isolation of the Kurdish people’s leader, Abdullah Ocalan, continues to this moment. The co-chair of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP)’s MP for Hakkari, Leyla Guven, is on an indefinite and non-alternate hunger strike for 69 days in Amed prison.

Similarly, Nasir Yagiz, a member of the HDP’s representative office in Hewler (Erbil), South Kurdistan has been on an indefinite and irreversible hunger strike for the past 56 days.

Nasir Yagiz’s health deteriorates day after another. Yagiz can no longer consume liquids, his health is worsening every day.

It is reported that the meetings with him also have been limited now. However, the People’s Council of Maxmur had met him yesterday.

‘I will continue my hunger strike until the isolation is removed’

Yagiz who was speaking while 28th group was taking turn in the hunger strike, said that he will continue the indefinite hunger strike until the isolation of Abdullah Ocalan is ended.

“We must try to end the isolation. It has been over three years since a tightened isolation has been forced upon Ocalan,” said Yagiz.

“No matter what follows, I will continue my hunger strike. There should be an immediate action with regards to Ocalan’s health, and the imprisoned HDP MPs must be freed,” added Yagiz.
