Women visit hunger strikers in Strasbourg

For 17 days a hunger strike has been held in Strasbourg against the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan. On Wednesday, women from different cities have visited the hunger strikers.

Since 17 December, a hunger strike has been going on in Strasbourg city of France against the isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan on the prison island of Imrali.

15 Kurdish participants launched their action to ensure that the Council of Europe's Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) visits Öcalan. There is no news from the PKK leader and since September 2016.

The hunger strikers are not alone with their demand. Every day, dozens of visitors come to the Democratic Kurdish Community Center where the hunger strike is taking place.

On Wednesday, representatives of the Yazidi women's movement TAJÊ, the Kurdish women's councils from Switzerland, Paris, the Belgian city of Antwerp and the Berlin Women's Council DEST-DAN paid solidarity visits to the hunger strikers.

Representatives of the Yazidi umbrella organization NAV-YEK and the Democratic Kurdish Council of France (CDK-F) also paid a visit to the activists to express their support.
