US Senators Graham and Van Hollen asked to sanction Erdogan

US senators propose freezing assets of Turkey's president and ministers of defence, foreign affairs, trade, finance and energy.

US Senator Lindsay Graham said on twitter he was "pleased to have reached a bipartisan agreement with Senator Chris Van Hollen" on severe sanctions against Turkey for their invasion of Syria.

"While the Administration refuses to act against Turkey, - said Graham - I expect strong bipartisan support."

Democrats and Republicans, including some of the US president's most staunch congressional allies, have slammed his decision to pull US troops from northern Syria and allow Turkish forces to attack US military allies in the region.
