Turkey's rigged referendum protested in several cities

People continue protesting Sunday's rigged referendum which was marked by numerous frauds and acceptance of invalid votes by the Supreme Election Board (YSK).

In Fatih, Beşiktaş, Bakırköy, Avcılar, Küçükçekmece, Güngören, Kartal, Maltepe districts of Istanbul, masses took to the streets today as well and staged demonstrations in protest at the dubious referendum results.

“No, we won” and “This is just the beginning, keep the struggle going” chanted demonstrators as they protested the Turkish Supreme Election Board for accepting invalid votes on ruling AKP's demand.

In the western province of İzmir, hundreds took to the streets at several locations and demanded the annulment of the referendum.

In Antep province, the Governorate has banned all social and political activities such as demonstrations, marches and protests for one month on the grounds that “protests could turn into large-scale social incidents with the affect of rising tensions”.

Protestors that gathered for a press statement despite the ban were attacked by the police.

People took to the streets in Eskişehir province as well and chanted "Shoulder to shoulder against fascism" as they protested the referendum results.

In Konya province, several people gathered behind a banner reading "No, we won" and called on the Supreme Election Board to act against the fraud and irregularities in the referendum.

The scenes of protests in Turkish capital Ankara were Kuğulu Park and central Kızılay where people demanded the annulment of the referendum. Several people gathered in front of the YSK building and submitted petitions of objection.

The cities of Tekirdağ, Muğla, Aydın, Mersin, Kocaeli, Adana and Çanakkale were also scenes of mass protests against the rigged referendum through which Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan seeks to formalize his one-man rule. Some demonstrators were taken into custody in Adana.
