Tuğluk faces judge for the first time 6 months after imprisonment

HDP Deputy Co-chair Aysel Tuğluk faced a judge for the first time in the case she has been awaiting trial for in prison. The court decided to not allow spectators while journalists and women’s organizations are kept waiting in the yard.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (Halkların Demokratik Partisi - HDP) Deputy Co-chair Aysel Tuğluk faced a judge for the first time in the case she was arrested in. Tuğluk was brought to the Ankara High Criminal Court No:17.

Tuğluk was detained in Ankara on allegations of “being an administrator in a terrorist organization” and “membership to a terrorist organization” as part of the investigation launched by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on December 28, 2016 and was arrested in court on allegations of “running a terrorist organization”.

The court announced that spectators would not be allowed in the hearing. As of now, only female MPs were able to enter the courtroom.

Women from the Ankara Women’s Platform are at the Ankara Courthouse for the trial and continue their wait in the yard as the police tries to prevent them.
