Trump said he would soon issue sanctions to Turkey

The US president said in a tweet that he will sign an executive order in response to Ankara’s military incursion in northern Syria.

The US preident said he would “soon” issue an executive order imposing sanctions on Turkish officials following the country’s military operation in northern Syria.

The announcement comes after bipartisan criticism of Trump’s decision to withdraw US troops from the region.

Trump said he intends to sign an executive order authorizing new sanctions against Turkish officials.

He also ordered a hike on steel tariffs and immediately canceled negotiations over a $100 billion trade deal with Turkey.

"I am fully prepared to swiftly destroy Turkey's economy if Turkish leaders continue down this dangerous and destructive path," Trump wrote in a lengthy statement.
