In a written statement Tevgera Jinên Kurdistan-Ewrupa (European Kurdish Women's Movement), saluted “the determined and courageous stance of the people who resisted in four parts of Kurdistan, especially Rojava”.

TJK-E reacted against the German state's ban on the Kurdish Culture Festival and called on people to join the rally to be held in Dusseldorf on Saturday.

The statement said: "The International Kurdish Culture Festival, which is very effective in introducing Kurdish culture in Europe and has been celebrated peacefully in Germany for a quarter of a century has been banned. Despite all attempts by the German state to prevent it, the International Kurdish Culture Festival has been celebrated for 25 years. Now it was hindered by a political decision. The German state has shown an unfriendly, anti-democratic attitude towards the Kurdish people for the last three years and has maintained its dirty negotiations with the fascist Turkish state sometimes openly, sometimes in secret”.

The German state supports Turkish fascism

The statement continued: “The decision of the German court to block the International Kurdish Culture Festival is a political decision. Sadly the German state has targeted a long-term cultural event celebrated in peace for 25 years. This anti-democratic attitude of the German state supporting Turkish fascism has been met with the right reaction of our people and friends. For many years, this event had been a meeting place for our people living away from their land, a place for to find their culture, songs, poetry. And now it has been banned”.

Call to join rally in Dusseldorf

TJK-E condemned the German government's decision “and called on all people to join the freedom and democracy rally to be held in Düsseldorf on Saturday, September 8”.
