Three HDP members jailed in Tatvan

Political genocide operations of the AKP regime against the Kurdish people and their elected representatives continue increasingly.

Four people who had been taken into custody in Bitlis and its Tatvan district on August 6, have been referred to court today. The detainees included HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) Tatvan district co-chair Burak Ballıoğlu, HDP Bitlis City Council member Medeni Yalçınkaya, IHD (Human Rights Association) Bitlis Branch Secretary General Engin Başar and Özgür Akbay.

While Engin Başar was released on condition of judicial control, Burak Ballıoğlu, Medeni Yalçınkaya and Özgür Akbay were remanded in custody and sent to Bitlis Prison.

Apart from Tatvan, the tally of Friday’s political genocide operations in the Kurdish region are as follows;

Antep: Two people were jailed for allegedly “spreading PKK propaganda”.

Muş: HDP provincial branch co-chairs Ferhat Çakı and Muhlise Karagüzel, and Kudbettin Çelik were taken into custody and the HDP Office was raided by the police.

Amed: Three people including a 4 months pregnant woman were detained in a house raid.
