The third conference “Challenging Capitalist Modernity III: Uncovering Democratic Modernity ― Resistance, Rebellion and Building the New” has kicked off in Hamburg.

The three-day conference is taking place at Hamburg University after the past two conferences that brought together not only leading intellectuals, but also gave young activists, students and scholars a chance to present their ideas. This third conference aims once again to build bridges between all these and movements in Kurdistan and worldwide.

The conference will continue to focus on the critique of the capitalist modernity, and this year the obstacles and how these obstacles can be overcome will also be discussed. The main theme of this year's conference is the importance of being organized and to be in solidarity.

The stand where Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's books, translated in many languages, are presented draws great interest from the participants of the conference who started to gather at the university as of 08:00 this morning before the conference kicked off at 10:00 o'clock.

In today's program welcoming speeches and messages will be given by Rolf Becker, Prof. Frank Adlof, Hamburg People's Council, Havin Guneser, Prof. John Holloway (by video).
