The Stockholm attacker passed through Turkey too

Rakhmat Akilov, a 39 year old man from Uzbekistan who caused 4 deaths with the truck attack in Stockholm, was reported to have crossed into Turkey from Syria.

Sweden Radio and Free Europe Radio claimed that Rakhmat Akilov from Uzbekistan who carried out the truck attack in Sweden capital Stockholm on April 7 was involved with radical groups during his time in Turkey.

Free Europe Radio cited Uzbek sources for their inquiry into Akilov’s past, and stated that Akilov visited Turkey frequently with his wife due to their commercial activity and after they split up in 2012, he settled in Turkey. The story cited Akilov’s close friends and relatives that he became involved with radical fundamentalist groups in Turkey, and that he was radicalized before he went to Sweden.

Uzbekistan Defense Ministry issued a statement and said Rakhmat Akilov crossed over to Turkey from Syria in 2015.

The attackers in France, Belgium, Russia and most recently Egypt had turned out to have stayed in Turkey, and going back and forth to Syria from there.
