TEV-ÇAND and GOVEND artists with Strasbourg resistance

TEV-ÇAND and GOVEND artists visited the 14 hunger strikers in Strasbourg.

The hunger strike resistance started by 14 Kurdish activists on 17 December in Strasbourg demanding the end of isolation against Abdullah Öcalan has reached day 76.

The hunger strikers, including former deputy Dilek Öcalan, emphasized that although their health conditions deteriorate quickly, they are determined to continue their fast until the walls of isolation in İmralı are destroyed.

After the last medical control, on Monday, the activists said that they are experiencing from some constant health problems such as muscles deterioration.

On the 76th day of the hunger strike, support visits from all over Europe continue. Today, members of the cultural institutions TEV-ÇAND and GOVEND from Paris, came to Strasbourg and offered their support to the activists.

TEV-ÇAND made a statement and called on all artists to stand by the resistance against isolation.

TEV-ÇAND artists emphasized that this hunger strike is bringing new threats to activists every passing day and reiterated the call on the Council of Europe and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) to take immediate action.

Visits from France and Switzerland

Visitors from Besançon and Wuppertal also came to express their solidarity and support to hunger strikers.

Hunger strikers will be visited today by a group of doctors from Germany and France.

Solidarity hunger strike in front of Council of Europe and CPT

The 5-day solidarity hunger-strike is taking place in front of the Council of Europe and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) buildings. A group of PYD members carried out a solidarity hunger strike in support of the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil which has been going on for 7 years.

On Monday, the Yazidis in Europe are expected to take over the hunger strike.
