Switzerland celebrates PKK anniversary

Three different demonstrations were held in Switzerland to mark the 40th anniversary of the PKK

Revolutionary Youth's Movement Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger organised an event in Bern, Switzerland, to mark the 40th anniversary of the PKK.

The celebration began with a minute silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the struggle for Kurdish freedom.

A speech on behalf of the Swiss Kurdish Movement underlined how 27 November 1978 was a sacred day for the Kurds.

In addition, a video conversation with Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan addressing young people in the past, was shown. The event ended with slogans and halay.

Another demonstration was held in front of the St Laurent Church under the leadership of the Democratic Kurdish Community Center (CDK) and the Lajin Women's Council in Lausanne, to mark the anniversary of the PKK.

Activists protested against the regime of isolation imposed on Kurdish people’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the foundation of the PKK was celebrated.

In Geneva, Tevgera performed actions like hanging banners by Ciwanên Şoreşger activists.

In the evening, a banner with the words ’Happy anniversary of the PKK was also hanged.
