Swedish deputy: The world should take a stand

Swedish Left Party MP Ali Esbati said they support the demands of Leyla Güven and hunger strikers.

Swedish Left Party MP Ali Esbati made a statement on the hunger strikes for the abolition of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The Swedish MP urged the world to take a stand against the unlawful acts of Turkish President Erdoğan.

Esbati said his party will continue to support the action led by HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven and her struggle for democracy, human rights and freedom.

“In terms of human rights and democratic values, - said Esbati - we consider very worrying the developments in Turkey. The HDP is fighting for the rights of minorities and a democratic Turkey."

Esbati emphasized the importance for the world to defend democracy and human rights and said that the Left Party support the demands of Leyla Güven and hunger strikers.

Esbati ended his remarks by saying that no deputy should be held in prison and added that detentions during the election campaign should end.
