Stockholm in solidarity with Rojava

Speakers called for international action to stop Turkish invasion of Rojava in violation of international law.

Masses took to the streets in Sweden’s capital city Stockholm to express their solidarity with Rojava against the Turkish genocidal campaign seeking to invade northern Syria together with ISIS and al-Nusra gangs in violation of international law.

Masses gathered at the Sergel Square where Kurds and their friends have been holding demonstration every evening since the launch of Turkey’s invasion attacks against northern Syria on October 9.

The massive demonstration began with a minute of silence in memory of martyrs of revolution, followed by speeches of the representatives of parties and associations from Sweden, Kurdistan, Turkey, Iran and Assyrian-Syriac-Chaldean communities.

Speakers called for international action in order for Turkish troops and allied mercenaries to leave Rojava and North Syria.

Swedish diplomat and human rights advocate Thomas Hammarberg called for the end of Turkish invasion and criticized the exclusion of Kurds from the works for the new constitution for Syria. He stressed that a constitution that does not include the Kurds will not serve a lasting peace.

Moderat Party MP Jörgen Persson condemned Turkish President Erdoğan’s invasion of Rojava, massacres and attacks against Kurds and other minorities in the region, and stressed that they would continue to stand with the Kurds and other peoples in the region.

Many politicians sent their solidarity message to the demonstration, including Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde.

Following the speeches, the crowd marched to the Medborgarplatsen Square. The march, which lasted 1,5 hours, was accompanied by speeches exposing the Turkish state invasion.
