Solidarity hunger strikes in Germany and France continue

Hunger strikes to support HDP Hakkari deputy Leyla Güven have entered their sixth day in Darmstadt and Marseille.

The hunger strike in the German city of Darmstadt and the French city of Marseille to protest against the isolation regime imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, entered their sixth day.

Darmstadt

The solidarity action with DTK Co-Chair and HDP Hakkari deputy Leyla Güven, who has been on hunger strike for 34 days, is carried out by Kurds living in Darmstad at the Luisenplatz.

The hunger strike is now carried out by a group of Kurdish people from Mannheim and Saarbrucken. Some 50 people have joined the action.

Marseille

The solidarity hunger strike launched in Marseille to demand the end of the isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan also entered its sixth day.

HDP Hakkari deputy Leyla Güven who has been on hunger strike for over 30 days was commended by activists.

Activists on Monday night spoke out with concern about the series of arrests carried out in Amed and Batman targeting people on hunger strike.

“They cannot intimidate us, - said activists - we will continue to step up our resistance and continue our actions everywhere.”
