Senyasar family lawyer: Everybody should support the case

The confidentiality order on the casefile for the murder of Haci Esvet Senyasar and his children by AKP MP Ibrahim Halil Yildiz’s bodyguards is still in place

The confidentiality order on the investigation about the murder of Haci Esvet Senyasar and his children Adil and Celal Senyasar by AKP MP Ibrahim Halil Yildiz’s relatives and bodyguards in the Suruc district of Urfa is still in place.

Senyasar family lawyer Sevda Celik Ozbingol stated that there have been no advances in the legal procedures regarding the incident on June 14 that resulted in the death of 4 people.
Ozbingol stressed that the confidentiality order on the case not being lifted increases their concerns.

“PROSECUTOR APPOINTED ELSEWHERE, CASEFILE TO BE RECOMPILED”

Ozbingol said the casefile is being compiled again after the prosecutor on duty was appointed elsewhere, causing serious problems. Ozbingol stated that as the family’s lawyers, they appealed with bar associations, the Union of Bar Associations Turkey (TBB) and human rights institutions to have neutrality in the follow up of the casefile: “It is of the utmost importance for us and the family that this case is investigated to the fullest extent and the truth is revealed. We have shared many recordings that can shed light on the incident. Our purpose and efforts are entirely focused on having justice served. Our work continues.”

“PEOPLE SHOULD NOT ACCEPT IT, PUBLIC AWARENESS SHOULD BE DEVELOPED”

Ozbingol stressed that public awareness should be developed so the family’s victimization can end: “The attack commited for political purposes by the inhumane group that holds state power is too severe for any person, any mother, any NGO, any citizen or any rights defender to accept. We are calling on national and inernational human rights defenders to be sensitive to this case and to contribute to access to justice with independent observer status in particular.”

“INDEPENDENT LEGAL INSTITUTIONS SHOULD BECOME OBSERVERS”

Ozbingol said cases like this one aren’t only of interest to the affected parties and it is very important that the public is also informed, and added that for this reason independent legal institutions should become observers at every point in the case. The lawyer continued: “Bar associations should follow up on and know the processes like this very well.

Confidentiality orders on this and similar cases should be lifted and it should be made so we can access these files. The Ministry of Justice, the Union of Bar Associations and human rights organizations/defenders should monitor these cases. The mother’s cries in particular should be heard, and all societal groups should support the Suruc case in this sense.”
