Red Cross convoy reaches Afrin

The International Red Cross Committee has announced that the humanitarian aid convoy headed towards Afrin has reached its destination.

The Red Cross Committee issued a statement in Geneva and announced that for the first time since the Turkish invasion attacks started on January 20, a humanitarian aid convoy has reached Afrin.

The statement says the 29 trailer loads of humanitarian aid is geared towards 50.000 people, and that the residents of Til Rifat, 20 km to the border with Turkey, should also benefit from this aid.

The convoy prepared by the Red Cross in agreement with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent includes food, water, materials, medicine and hygiene equipment.

The Red Cross Committee had issued a statement in the morning hours and said they had been trying to deliver aid to the residents of Afrin for weeks.
