20 lawyers stand trial in Turkey for alleged "leadership and / or membership of an armed terrorist organization". 6 of the 20 lawyers are imprisoned.

All lawyers standing trial are members of the left-wing lawyers' association ÇHD (Çağdaş Hukukçular Derneği, Association of Progressive Lawyers) and the HBB (Halkın Hukuk Bürosu, People's Law Office), which is known for its efforts against state repression and focuses on political processes across the country.

Hearing in the case against the lawyers resumed at the 37th Heavy Penal Court of Istanbul on Wednesday.

The court issued prison sentences for 17 of the 20 lawyers, ranging from 3 years and 1 month to 18 years and 9 months.

Lawyer Selçuk Kozağaçlı was sentenced to 11 years and 3 months.
