Reconstruction efforts continue in Raqqa

Raqqa Civil Council, Reconstruction Committee and People’s Municipality Council have started substructure works in the largest neighborhood of the city to accelerate services in the city.

Raqqa Civil Council held a meeting with the People’s Municipality with the goal of consolidating services after the liberation of the city from ISIS mercenaries.

A number of officials from the Service Committee, intellectuals and Raqqa Region Council members attended the meeting.

Two project proposals were put forward during the meeting. The first project is cleaning works across the city, and the second restoring the sewer lines in the city. A budget of 1,245,000 Syrian Liras has been allocated for two projects.

Speaking in the name of Raqqa Civil Council, Ehmed Xelil said that; “Raqqa city was brought down in ruins while under ISIS occupation. For this reason, we have laid the first base to enhance the services and reconstruction. Today, we are proposing several projects to revive life in the city.”

İbrahim Xelil from the Reconstruction Committee under Raqqa Civil Council spoke afterwards and said the following; “We celebrate this step. We, the Reconstruction Committee, are ready to provide any and all services to revive life in the city.”

Speaking at the end of the meeting on behalf of the People’s Municipality of Raqqa, Ehmed İbrahim said; “We salute the SDF fighters who liberated our city from ISIS mercenaries. We celebrate the Project we have launched to revive the city.”
