Rally in Derry for Leyla Güven

In 1981 Bobby Sands (who had been elected MP) and 9 other political prisoners died as a result of a hunger strike to demand their rights.

A rally was held in Derry, in the North of Ireland in solidarity with HDP Hakkari MP, Leyla Güven.

The rally took place in the historic “You are now entering Free Derry” mural at the entrance of the Bogside, the republican area of Derry.

Sinn Fein representative Kayleigh Fleming said: “We must stand with Leyla Güven as the international community stood with us during the hunger strike of 1981.
