On the 20th anniversary of the international conspiracy that led to the capture of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, people marching from Basel to Strasbourg ended their second day of action.

The march promoted with the slogan “Let’s break isolation, destroy fascism and free Kurdistan” has been joined by over 100 people including politicians, representatives of Kurdish institutions and artists.

20 Km walked on Sunday

On Sunday activists walked 20 km despite the heavy rain and blowing storms. Activists carried photos of Öcalan and chanted slogans to fend off the bad weather.

Support for hunger strikers must grow

The heavy rain and the wind didn’t affect activists who walked without losing their enthusiasm. Activists said that the support for the hunger strikes led by Leyla Güven needs to grow even further.

Different identities walking for Öcalan

There are many people from many different religious and ideological backgrounds and beliefs, and the fact that these differences joined together on the demand to free Öcalan is the strength of the action.

Because all agree that the isolation imposed on Öcalan is actually an isolation imposed on all different peoples in Turkey. And to free Öcalan and break isolation would mean to free all peoples.

Among the activists marching to Strasbourg are many people over 60 who despite the difficult conditions of the march stood still and walked on.

Activists aim to reach Meyenheim, France, on Monday evening after a 20 km walk from Mulhouse.
