Protests banned, drugs go free in Mardin

The AKP regime is trying to make the youth fall for their trap of drugs when they failed to make them surrender with oppression and massacres in Mardin. Any and all democratic activity is banned in the city while the drug trade continues unabated.

According to MA, State of Emergency practices continue in Mardin’s Nusaybin district. There are 6 police checkpoints along the entrances to the city, and an armored vehicle on virtually every street corner. There are several watch points and outposts in the neighborhoods as well.

EVERYTHING EXCEPT SELLING DRUGS OFF LIMITS

For pro-government institutions, everything goes in the city. But the opposition can’t enjoy the same rights. The permissions for “approved” activities are not given until few hours before the events, effectively preventing them from being held.

Pressure against anybody outside of pro-government circles continues to get deeper, and with the curfews what stands out is the drug trade that continues to spread among young people. Drug use has become prominent in the Kisla, Zeynel Abidin and Firat neighborhoods in particular. Drug dealers roam free, and a significant portion of the drugs sold is heroin.

SALES HAPPEN IN FRONT OF THE POLICE

There are drug dealers in the Mardin Stop right across from the Cumhuriyet Middle School. The young drug dealers pay no mind to the armored vehicles around, which means that the drug traffic is under police control, or at least within their knowledge. Neighborhood residents say certain groups stay until the morning selling drugs, and are never faced with any police intervention. The dealers specifically target the young people in families who have relatives in prisons or were killed in the curfews.
