Riazat criticized Swedish media and government for being insensitive to hunger strikes demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Öcalan. “The demands of the hunger strikers - said Riazat - must be met and the isolation against Öcalan should end immediately.”

Yekbun Alp commended Leyla Güven and all the hunger strikers.

Alp said that the Swedish Parliament represented democracy and human rights and yet they have gone on hunger strike in Parliament because it was the voice of freedom and peace, and criticized the Swedish government’s silence.

Alp insisted that “the time to act is now, as tomorrow may be too late. Now is the time to end isolation all together.”

Activists handed out leaflets to inform the public about the purpose of the hunger strike.

At the rally in Norrmalstorg Square, Latif Cebe, co-chair of the Democratic Kurdish Community Center of Stockholm, said the isolation was an attack on the entire Kurdish people. Drawing attention to the deterioration in the health condition of Leyla Güven and hunger the other hunger strikers, Cebe called on all Kurds to act.

After the end of the action, Stina Bengs, President of Artists for Peace, sang songs in Swedish and English at the Democratic Kurdish Community Center.
