Protest against Erdoğan in Hamburg

In response to the visit of Turkish President Erdoğan to Germany, a rally took place at the Hamburg Rathausmarkt yesterday evening.

Hundreds of people protested against the visit of Turkish President Erdoğan in Hamburg last night.

A representative of the Rojbîn Women's Council said: "We will participate in the demonstrations against Erdoğan during his three-day visit in Germany because we find it unacceptable that he will be received by the Federal Government on a red carpet. Erdoğan is the one who bombed, destroyed and occupied Kurdish cities, murdering thousands of people and supporting the Islamic State for years."

"We also call for protest against Erdoğan's visit," the feminist coalition said. "We rate this visit particularly as an attack on women. Erdoğan is a representative of misogyny and patriarchal violence."

Other speeches drew attention to the historic arms deals between Germany and Turkey, as well as the war crimes committed by Turkey with German weapons.

The rally ended with a call to attend today's "Erdogan not welcome" demonstration in Berlin. Buses leave Hamburg at 10 am from the central bus station to Berlin.
