Prisoners start hunger strike against prison uniforms in Silivri

Prisoners in Turkey’s largest prison started a week-long hunger strike against Turkish governments prison uniform policy.

According to a law decree by the AKP government, prisoners who committed crimes against the state will be forced to wear uniforms in their cur appearances.

Ayfer Altun, mother of a prisoner Silivri told ANF that her son Umut Gündüz Altun and about 50 other prisoners started a hunger strike on Thursday. The prisoners had announced that they would not accept uniform clothing under any circumstances.
