Prisoners' mothers resist under police blockade in Amed

Mothers of political prisoners protest in Amed to draw attention to the hunger strike against the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan. They have been surrounded by water cannons.

In order to draw attention to the hunger strike and death fast protest against the isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, relatives of prisoners stage a daily sit-in in Koşuyolu Park in Amed (Diyarbakir).

Also today, the Turkish police blocked the action of mothers of prisoners. The sit-in action has been surrounded by water cannons, the mothers are sitting in the exhaust fumes of running engines.

Journalists are prevented by the police from filming the protest. The mothers chant: "Amed, do not sleep, give the prisoners a voice!"
