Police pressure the hunger strike in front of the UN in Geneva

Geneva police have been pressuring the participants of the hunger strike launched in front of the UN building in support of Afrin, including various elected officials, to stop their protest.

The Geneva police are demanding a stop to the hunger strike launched in front of the UN Geneva Offices by elected officials and dozens of activists in protest of the Turkish state and their gangs invading Afrin and to demand the UN take action.

Geneva police didn’t accept the demand of protesters to spend the night in front of the UN building. They are asking the 200 protesters and elected officials to disperse.

The protesters haven’t accepted this demand by the police, and insist on continuing with their protest along with their chants. Police in front of the UN is preparing for an attack.


The protesters participating in the hunger strike are as follows:

Former HDP Muş MP and HDK-Europe Spokesperson Demir Çelik, HDP Şırnak MP Faysal Sarıyıldız, HDP Van MP Özdal Üçer, Cizre Co-mayor Leyla İmret, Karakoçan Co-mayor Burhan Kocaman, Suruç Co-mayor Orhan Şansal, Sur Co-mayor Fatma Şık Barut, London Haringey Mayor Aligül Özbek, football player Deniz Naki, journalist Filiz Kocali, journalist Ahmet Nesin and Feyzullah Tunç from the HDK.

The hunger strike, launched with the demand that the UN take action for Afrin which is under invasion by the Turkish state and their allied gangs, is also supported by over 50 other people, mostly Kurds and allies of Kurds.
