October 9th protests in France and Norway

In Mantes-la-Jolie, Marseille and Marignane in France, as well as in the Norwegian capital Oslo, protests were staged against the international conspiracy against PKK founder Abdullah Öcalan on 9 October 1998.

Yesterday in Mantes-la-Jolie in Normandy, a demonstration against 9 October conspiracy took place under the leadership of the Kurdish women's movement. The demonstration on Friday criticized in particular the aggravated isolation of Öcalan and the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) that he was not subject to torture. The ECtHR decided, without having been aware of the situation, only on the basis of information provided by the AKP regime. About 300 demonstrators staged a march from the station to the city center.

In Marseille, the youth movement Ciwanên Azad also held a demonstration with the same goal on Friday at 20.00. Slogans calling for Öcalan's freedom were chanted and the silence of Europe against the aggravated isolation of the Kurdish leader was condemned.

The Norwegian capital Oslo also witnessed a demonstration against the 9 October plot. The activists marched from the city center to the parliament.
