Nasır Yağız: 156 days on hunger strike

HDP Nasır Yağız has reached day 156 of fast in Hewlêr as hunger strike resistance continues throughout South Kurdistan.

HDP Hewlêr representative Nasır Yağız has reached day 156 of his hunger strike demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan. Yağız has joined HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Guven. 

The HDP representative has been suffering from serious health problems in the last few days, yet he confirmed his stance and determination and said he will continue fasting until isolation is lifted.

Together with the hunger strike by the HDP Hewlêr representative, there are solidarity hunger strikes going on in South Kurdistan. In particular the hunger strike in Sulaymaniyah has been taken over by the 67rd group of activists and has now reached day 133. People from Germany, Catalonia and Spain joined the hunger strike in the Mesopotamian Workers Association.

Engineer Herêm Mehmud, who started an indefinite hunger strike in Kelar on 24 February, left 60 days of fast behind, while the resistance of Nehro Xaneqîn has reached day 21.

In Maxmur refugee camp, Fadile Tok, member of Ishtar Council reached the 96th day of her indefinitehunger strike. The solidarity hunger strike carried out at the Martyrs' Families Association has reached day 131.
