More people return to cleared neighborhoods of Raqqa

More inhabitants of Raqqa are returning home after the liberation of the city from ISIS in late October.

Professional teams are conducting mine clearing works across Raqqa city since its liberation from ISIS in late October in the Operation Wrath of Euphrates by YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Displaced by the ISIS invasion and following battle to clear the city, inhabitants of the city are now returning to their homes in the neighborhoods where mine cleaning efforts have been completed. A total of 14.500 families have returned during the past two months.

According to the data of neighborhood assemblies, 8 thousand families have returned to Al-Mashlab neighborhood, 5 thousand families to Rimela neighborhood and 1500 families to Tayar neighborhood.

Al-Mashlab neighborhood assembly co-chair Mihemed Şibli stated that they are providing service to the returning residents within the bounds of their opportunities, saying; “More people are returning every day. Shops have opened and life is turning back to normal in the neighborhood.”

Tayar neighborhood assembly member Mihemed Nur stated that needs of the returning residents are met with the support of Raqqa Civil Council.
