Market reopens in Deir ez-Zor after 7 years

The popular bazaar had to be closed under DAESH occupation.

The shopkeepers in the vegetable market in the village of Janina, in Deir ez-Zor, have reopened the shops they had been forced to close after the occupation carried out by DAESH mercenaries.

Seven years after the bazaar is now re-opening and this will positively affect the life of citizens.

The Deir ez-Zor Civic Council is working hard to provide services to citizens despite the limited opportunities and resources available.

The bazaar has a separate space, as most of its people live with agriculture and livestock. After many areas in Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor were liberated by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters, roads were opened again and the autonomous administrations started providing services to citizens.

The products sold at the market are cheap and this makes it a very popular place for village residents. On the other hand, with the opening of the bazaar, there were also new job opportunities created.

Workers and village residents said they were happy that the bazaar was back on track and hoped that those who were forced to leave their homes because of DAESH would finally be able to return.
