London in solidarity with the hunger strikers

The hunger strike demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan is being supported by many actions and demos around Europe.

Kurdish women's organizations in London promoted a demonstration calling on the international community to show support and solidarity with the hunger strikers.

Activists gathered in front of Wood Green library in North London on Saturday afternoon and opened a huge banner with the photo of Leyla Güven.

Ron Women's Assembly, New Women, Socialist Women's Union, Alkas Com Women's Commission and other women's organizations said in a statement: "Leyla Guven's demand is our demand" and called all women to join in the support to Leyla and the other hunger strikers.

The statement underlined that the isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan has been going on for 20 years and yet is a sign of the weakness of the AKP-MHP alliance. “The State abruptly called peace talks to an end, and stopped talks with Öcalan. Yet, the State knows very well that Öcalan is a key actor in reaching a peaceful solution of the Kurdish question.”
