Lawyers appeal to meet with Ocalan

Lawyers have appealed to meet with Ocalan.

Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s lawyers appealed again to meet with their client.

Ocalan's lawyers Newroz Uysal, Mazlum Dinc, Faik Ozgur Erol and Cengiz Yurekli appealed to the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office to meet with their client.

The lawyers had been able to meet with Ocalan for the first time in 8 years on May 2, and the next meeting took place on May 22.

The previous 810 appeals by the lawyers since July 27, 2011 had been rejected on arbitrary grounds.

Ocalan's meetings with his lawyers were made possible again after a months-long hunger strike resistance.

The Bursa Heavy Criminal Court No.1 lifted the ban against lawyers visits in Imrali with a ruling on April 17.

Minister of Justice Abdulhamit Gul issued a statement on May 16 and announced that the ban was lifted. But lawyers and hunger strikers had demanded to see this ruling put to practice.
