DORTMUND

More than two thousand Kurds in Dortmund protested the AKP government’s appointment of trustees to DBP municipalities and the isolation of Öcalan. Protesters carried Öcalan’s posters, demanded Öcalan’s freedom, and expressed that they would not recognize the trustees appointed by the AKP government.

STOCKHOLM

Hundreds of Kurdish people and their allies marched in the Swedish capital Stockholm to protest the AKP government’s appointment of trustees to DBP municipalities and the isolation of Öcalan. Protestors gathered in Södermalmstog square around 13:30 and chanted slogans against the AKP government’s policies towards Kurdish people. Sweden Democratic Kurdish Society Center Co-President Ayşe Göktepe spoke during the protest, highlighted Turkey’s isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, and said that the AKP government has been carrying out massacres and occupying Rojava in order to prevent Kurdish people from making any gains in the region. Göktepe described the lifting of HDP parliamentarians’ immunities and the appointment of trustees to DBP municipalities as blows against Kurdish people’s will, and called upon the EU and the Swedish government to stand up against the AKP government.

Justice Party representative Arne Johansson spoke during the protest and condemned Erdoğan’s purge against Kurdish politicians and the arrest of HDP Deputy Co-President Alp Altınörs. KNK representative Karvan Said also spoke during the event, criticized the lifting of HDP parliamentarians’ immunities and the seizure of DBP municipalities, and emphasized that Kurdish people would continue to stand up for their reprenstatives.

EVENT IN UPPSALA ON SEPTEMBER 19

The Left Party and the Kurdish Solidarity Association announced that they would organize an event in the Storatorget Square of Uppsala at 18:00 on September 19 to protest the appointment of trustees to DBP municipalities.

TURIN

People of Kurdistan protested the isolation of Öcalan and the appointment of trustees to DBP municipalities in Piazza Castello, Turin, Italy. Protesters distributed pamphlets, demanded Öcalan’s freedom, and denounced the legitimacy of appointed trustees.

OSLO

PJAK committee held a rally for Öcalan’s freedom in Jernbanetorget Square, Oslo, Norway. Protestors criticized Turkey’s occupation of Rojava and destruction of North Kurdistan, distributed pamphlets, and condemned Turkish president Erdoğan.

ST GALLEN

Peace Platform composed of Dem Kurd St Gallen constituents from Amnesty International, SP, Greens, and Anti-Fascist organizations protested the isolation of Öcalan, emphasized the relations between Turkey and ISIS, and demanded the occupant Turkish army’s withdrawal from Kurdistan.

OLDENBURG

Nearly a thousand people of Kurdistan and their allies gathered in front of Oldenburg Train Station and marched in Oldenburg, Germany to demand Öcalan’s freedom and the lifting of the ban on the PKK. NAV-DEM representative M. Latif Karakş addressed the protestors, condemned Öcalan’s isolation, and demanded an end to the war in Kurdistan.

MONTPELLIER

Protestors led by Montpellier Democratic Kurdish Society Center gathered in Place de la Comedie, Montpellier, France at 19:00, distributed pamphlets, and condemned the AKP government’s isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and seizure of DBP municipalities.
