Kurdish musician Ferhat Tunç arrested in Istanbul

Ferhat Tunç has been arrested at Istanbul's Atatürk Airport.

Kurdish musician Ferhat Tunç was arrested on Sunday after he arrived from Germany to Turkey at the Atatürk airport in Istanbul. According to the police, two separate arrest warrants have been issued against the Kurdish musician who is accused of “membership and propaganda for a terrorist organization”.

In a short message on Twitter, Tunç explained his arrest as follows: "When I arrived from Germany was informed that I was wanted. The airport police carry out the arrest ".

The Kurdish artist has been referred to the Bakırköy Courthouse on Monday.

In September, Dersim-born musician Ferhat Tunç was sentenced to nearly two years in prison by an Istanbul court for "continued propaganda for a terrorist organization." In the parliamentary and presidential elections in June 2018, the 54-year-old musician went into the race for the HDP and barely missed the entry into the Turkish National Assembly.
