KCDK-E calls for participation in Strasbourg rally tomorrow

The rally has been organised by the KCDK-E and TJK-E: "On January 16 we will be in front of the CPT, Council of Europe, European Parliament to demand these institutions to stop playing the three monkeys.”

Yüksel Koç, co-chair of the European Kurdish Democratic Society Congress (KCDK-E), called on people to join the rally scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, in Strasbourg.

Koç, who has been on hunger strike alongside 14 other activists in Strasbourg for 30 days, demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, called on people to ensure maximum participation to the rally in front of the European Parliament (EP), the Council of Europe (CoE) and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT).

Koç said: “Tomorrow will be the 70th day of Leyla Güven’s hunger strike, 57th day of Nasir Yagiz in Hewlêr and 31st day of activists in Strasbourg and Wales. I call on our people and friends in all European countries to create a 'serhildan' (uprising in Kurdish) in Strasbourg on January 16. Let’s be the loud voice of Leyla Güven, whose health is quickly getting worse, the voice of all hunger strikers in front of European Parliament and the Council of Europe.”

Noting that the European Parliament and the Council of Europe will be opening tomorrow for a new session, Koç said: “That's why we call on everyone to mobilize. Let's break the isolation, tear fascism down and free Kurdistan.”

The rally has been organised by the KCDK-E and TJK-E (Kurdish Women’s Movement in Europe). In the manifesto for the rally, the KCDK-E called on “all international institutions to take action. On January 16 we will be in front of the CPT, Council of Europe, European Parliament to demand these institutions to stop playing the three monkeys.”
