Jaafari: Turkey gave armed groups chemical weapons

Permanent Representative of Syria to the UN Jaafari said Turkey needs to withdraw its forces from Syria, and stressed that the chemical weapons armed groups used in Aleppo were provided by Turkey.

Permanent Representative of Syria to the UN Jaafari said Turkey needs to withdraw its forces from Syria if it wants to help resolve the crisis in the country. Jaafari also stated that the armed groups got the chemical weapons they used in Aleppo from Turkey.

Permanent Representative of Syria to the UN Bashar Jaafari said, “Instead of fulfilling the duty of policing with light weapons, Turkey sent soldiers and heavy equipment to the city to the north of Syria. There are Turkish flags flying in Syrian cities. We believe Turkey’s actions are openly hostile.”

Jaafari said the situation in Idlib is worsening due to Turkey, and that Turkey is not fulfilling its responsibilities there.

“IF THEY DON’T WITHDRAW OTHER METHODS WILL BE INSTATED”

Jaafari spoke about Turkish forces in Syrian cities and stressed that if diplomatic methods can’t ensure Turkey withdrawing forces from Syria, Damascus will start acting in a different manner.

Jaafari said Turkey didn’t fulfill its responsibility to remove the terrorists from Idlib as per the agreement reached in Sochi: “This resulted in the terrorists in Idlib committing violations. The events have reduced trust for Turkey.”

“CHEMICAL WEAPONS FROM TURKEY”

Jaafari said, “Through terrorist organizations, Turkey has used chemical weapons in Aleppo,” and stated that what happened in Aleppo both increased tensions and showed that the agreement reached in Sochi was not implemented.

“Turkey now has the chance to withdraw their forces 20 km,” said Jaafari and added that the chemical attack in Aleppo by terrorists was supported by Turkey and other foreign powers. Jaafari said: “Terrorists couldn’t have used chemical weapons if those who control them did not greenlight the attempt. We know who gave them chemical weapons. That is, primarily the Turks.”

“TURKEY MUST WITHDRAW ALL FORCES”

Jaafari pointed out that according to the Sochi agreement, Turkey is supposed to set up 12 checkpoints in predetermined areas and use light weapons: “But instead, they sent 11.000 armed troops to Syria. Turkish soldiers are present in many cities in the country today. They are not policing the cities, they have helicopters and heavy weapons.”

“If Turkey wants to truly help Syria, it must withdraw all its forces, starting with the forces that illegitimately entered our lands,” said Jaafari and stressed that American and French forces in certain parts of the country also should be withdrawing.

Permanent Representative of Syria to the UN Bashar Jaafari added that the West can help the return of migrants by lifting the sanctions against Damascus.
