Iraqi lawmakers condemn Turkish airstrikes

Iraq’s Foreign Ministry and lawmakers condemned Turkish airstrikes that killed four civilians in Southern Kurdistan.

Ahmed Mehcub, a spokesperson for Iraq’s Foreign Ministry, said that they condemn all Turkish attacks and bombing of villages in the north of the country. Mehcup warned Ankara that all interventions on Iraqi territory should be conducted with the approval of Baghdad government.

Iraqi MP Zaynab Hezreci also reacted to Turkish airstrikes in Balakati valley and said that Iraq has to use force to expel Turkish forces in the country.

“Iraq has to use force to make Turkey withdraw its forces from Iraq. Because this is the only language that Turkey understands” she said.

Recalling Iraq’s diplomatic efforts against Turkish aggression Hezreci said, “Erdogan should understand that Iraq is not Syria. Our government should officially demand withdrawal of Turkish troops in Iraq”.
