European Afrin Solidarity Platform launches an information tent in front of the European Parliament in Brussels to provide detailed info on the war crimes of Turkey in Afrin and the humanitarian crisis caused by the Turkish attack on the enclave. The tent action will take place each day between 19th of March, Monday and 23th, Friday at between 11:00 and 15:00.

The opening of the tent will take place with a press conference on Monday, 19th March at 13:00, participated by the MEPs, who voted on 15 March, Thursday for resolution on Syria, calling the Turkish state to withdraw its forces from North of Syria.

The press conference will also be attended by the representatives of the North Syrian Democratic Federation as well as various Kurdish organizations and political groups from Turkey and Kurdistan.

During the 5 days in which the tent will be open, the Kurdish politicians and the members of our platform will provide large information and deliver files concerning the war crimes of Turkey in Afrin and the humanitarian crises caused by the Turkey’s siege of the town. The platform members will also make visits to Belgian Parliament and political parties as well as civil society and human rights organizations.

The situation in Afrin reached a critical stage as hundreds of thousands of civilians are coming under heavy bombardment by the Turkish jets, while Afrin center has been cut off water and electricity for a week following Turkey’s siege of the town.

European Afrin Solidarity Platform, which brings 94 organizations from all over Europe urges international community, the UN and the EU to break its silence against the Turkish aggression on Afrin and to take urgent steps to stop this attack.

The Platform highlighted their demands as follows;

- We call upon the United Nations Security Council to stand firm in defence of Resolution 2401, and not to let the Turkish regime evade its responsibility for its actions in the region of Afrin, Syria.

- We urge the European Union to take concrete steps in the line of the resolution adopted by the Parliament and to call Turkey to withdraw its forces from Afrin.

- We urge the international community to enforce the UNSC ceasefire and to ensure the delivery of humanitarian and medical aid to civilians who are in desperate need, both in Afrin and in Ghouta.

- We stress the urgent need for the implementation of a No-Fly-Zone over the Afrin region in order to preserve civilian lives and residential areas, civil infrastructure and significant monuments and cultural artifacts. We invite the international community to aid the enforcement of this No-Fly-Zone with peacekeeping troops or observer delegations.
