Hunger strikers in Kassel write to mayor

Bağdur and Kobane, who have been on a hunger strike for 24 days, have been visited by Kurdish people every day since the launch of their action.

The two Kurdish activists on hunger strike in Kassel have written a letter to the mayor of Kessel.

Omer Bağdur and Cemal Kobanê told the mayor they have been on hunger strike for 24 days in solidarity with the action launched by DTK co-chair and HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven who has been on hunger strike for 107 days demanding the end of isolation against Abdullah Ocalan.

“We are writing to you - said the activists - to explain why we have undertaken such an action, why we are ready to die.”

In their letter the two hunger strikers criticized the silence of German politicians and the press, and invited the mayor to the press conference they will hold on 25 February at the Kassel Kurdish Democratic Society Centre where they are fasting.
