Hunger striker Erol Aydemir reached day 27 of fast in Rome

Former MEP Luisa Morgantini and Palestinian activist Manal Tamimi visited hunger striker Erol Aydemir in Rome.

Erol Aydemir, who has been on hunger strike resistance for 27 days in Rome, was visited by former MEP and deputy chair of the European Parliament, Luisa Morgantini and Palestinian activist Manal Tamimi.

Kurdish activist Aydemir has joined the hunger strike resistance led by HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Guven demanding the end of isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Aydemir was visited by former Vice-President of the European Parliament and former MEP Luisa Morgantini, Palestinian activist Manal Tamimi, and 4 members from AssoPace association.

Morgantini said: “When Apo came to Italy, I was more active with the Kurdish cause and then I became more involved in the cause of the Palestinian people. Although I was not closely involved in the cause of the Kurdish people, I had never stopped following events and never failed to give my support. I support the hunger strike launched by Leyla Guven to demand the end of isolation against Mr. Abdullah Öcalan and I have gone on a one-day hunger strike in solidarity.”

The delegation gave Erol Aydemir a Palestinian flag and reiterated its support to the Kurdish people.

Aydemir gave the delegation the flag of the Kurdish freedom movement and a poster of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

A van carrying a giant poster of the hunger strikers traveled the roads of Rome to inform people on the resistance carried out by over 7,000 Kurdish activists and prisoners.
