Hunger strike at Tarsus Women's Prison in its 31st day

Male guards and soldiers are reported to be raiding the wards of prisoners at Tarsus Type C Closed Women's Prison who are on the 31st day of their indefinite-irreversible hunger strike.

Lawyers stated that the indefinite-irreversible hunger strike at Tarsus Type C Closed Women's Prison has entered its 31st day, while the indefinite and 5 day-long alternate hunger strike is joined by groups of 5-7 prisoners.

According to lawyers, indefinite-irreversible hunger strike participants Sinem Oğuz, Saadet Akın, Nurşen Tekin, Fatime Demir and Aycan Özdoğan's need for salt and lemon are not satisfied.

Hunger strikes are taking place in two wards, both of which are raided by male guards and soldiers once a week under the name of “search”.

Prisoners' books and newspapers are confiscated and they are subject to insults during the raids.
